TSVETKOV, I., T. DZHAMBAZOVA, V. KONDAKOVA and R. BATCHVAROVA, 2014. Mycorrhizal fungi Glomus spp. and Trichoderma spp. in viticulture (review). Bulg. J. Agric. Sci., 20: 849-855 Mycorrhizal fungi’s Glomus spp. and Trichoderma spp. are natural components of the healthy vineyard soils. They have the ability to improve nutrition and root resistance to attack by pathogens, and contribute positively to soil structure and stability. Implementation of practices that favors their propagation should be important aspects of viticulture management. Mycorrhizal inoculations of grapevines are proposed as a biotechnological alternative of conventional systems to manage soil sickness problem and to maintain improved grapevine plant growth and health. The conducted studies in this review showed the beneficial effects of mycorrhizal fungi Glomus spp. and Trichoderma spp. on grapevine growth/health status, plant nutrient uptake and soil fertility, as well on vineyard ecology in general.

Species of plants and associated arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi mediate mycorrhizal responses to CO2 enrichment
It has been suggested that enrichment of atmospheric CO2 should alter mycorrhizal function by simultaneously increasing nutrient-uptake benefits and decreasing net C costs for host plants. However, this hypothesis has not been sufficiently tested. We conducted three experiments to examine the impacts of CO2 enrichment on the function of different combinations of plants and arbuscular mycorrhiza...

Vesicular-arbuscular mycorrhizal (M) fungal colonization, growth, and nonstructural carbohydrate status of sour orange (Citrus aurantium L.) seedlings were compared at low- and high-phosphorus (P) supply following inoculation with four Glomus isolates: G. intraradices (Gi, FL208), G. etunicatum (Ge, UT316), G. claroideum (Gc, SC186), and Glomus sp. (G329, FL906). Nonmycorrhizal (NM) seedlings s...
متن کاملEffect of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (Glomus spp.) on growth and arsenic uptake of vetiver grass (Chrysopogon zizanioides L.) from contaminated soil and water systems
Phytoremediation technology is emerging as a promising environment-friendly method for large-scale cleanup of arsenic (As) contaminated water and soil. In this study we investigated the effect of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF Glomus spp.) on the growth of the vetiver grass (Chrysopogon zizanioides L.) and its As uptake from contaminated hydroponic and soil systems. An ameliorative effect of...
متن کاملContribution of the saprobic fungi Trametes versicolor and Trichoderma harzianum and the arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi Glomus deserticola and G. claroideum to arsenic tolerance of Eucalyptus globulus.
The presence of high concentrations of arsenic (As) decreased the shoot and root dry weight, chlorophyll and P and Mg content of Eucalyptus globulus colonized with the arbuscular mycorrhizal (AM) fungi Glomus deserticola or G. claroideum, but these parameters were higher than in non-AM plants. As increased the percentage of AM length colonization and succinate dehydrogenase (SDH) activity in th...
متن کاملThe diversity of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi amplified from grapevine roots (Vitis vinifera L.) in Oregon vineyards is seasonally stable and influenced by soil and vine age.
The diversity of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) in 10 Oregon vineyards was assessed by examining spores in soil and amplifying mycorrhizal DNA from roots. Seventeen spore morphotypes were found in soil, including seven species in the Acaulosporaceae. Eighteen phylotypes were amplified from grape roots with AM1 and NS31 primers, and clones were dominated by Glomus spp. (> 99%). A few clones ...
